Serendipity Made the Move!!
It was an exciting event this past Friday with great hopes of a successful relocation of Rodanthe's most iconic home who made its Hollywood debut in the movie Nights in Rodanthe.
With numerous onlookers the Matyiko Brothers of Virginia Beach, VA dismantled the sturdy pilings that for years so proudly displayed and protected Serendipity through many a nor'easter and coastal storm.
The first attempt to move the house resulted in a change of plans. The highly anticipated first tug created a slight movement forward though ended abruptly with Serendipity digging her heels in as if in a last attempt to remain as the beacon of Rodanthe. They repositioned the large steel mats and on the second tug were able to walk the house to the edge of Hwy 12.The final leg of this historic journey occurred Monday morning when Serendipity made its way to E. Beacon Road, just a short distance south on Highway 12, where it will be re-established with the infamous blue shutters and to once again be clearly identified as the Inn at Rodanthe.
