OBX Shag Event - February 15th

What is the beach without beach music and shag?

Peppercorn's Restaurant in Kill Devil Hills is hosting a "learn about shag" event on Monday, February 15th from 7:00 - 7:30pm. This event is to prepare for the upcoming "OBX Shag", which is a beach music dance event on May 8th and 9th.

It is anticipated this super fun event will draw 850 people per day. All proceeds raised will benefit the Community Care Clinic of Dare (http://www.dareclinic.org/).

Grab your sweetie, put on your shaggin' shoes and start 'dancin'... shaggin' on the boulevard...'

Serendipity Made the Move!!

It was an exciting event this past Friday with great hopes of a successful relocation of Rodanthe's most iconic home who made its Hollywood debut in the movie Nights in Rodanthe.

With numerous onlookers the Matyiko Brothers of Virginia Beach, VA dismantled the sturdy pilings that for years so proudly displayed and protected Serendipity through many a nor'easter and coastal storm.

The first attempt to move the house resulted in a change of plans. The highly anticipated first tug created a slight movement forward though ended abruptly with Serendipity digging her heels in as if in a last attempt to remain as the beacon of Rodanthe. They repositioned the large steel mats and on the second tug were able to walk the house to the edge of Hwy 12.

The final leg of this historic journey occurred Monday morning when Serendipity made its way to E. Beacon Road, just a short distance south on Highway 12, where it will be re-established with the infamous blue shutters and to once again be clearly identified as the Inn at Rodanthe.

We will continue to update our website with new photos, descriptive text and information throughout the refurbish process.

Stay tuned...

Serendipity comes to Vacation Traditions!

We are so proud and excited to announce Hatteras Island's little piece of Hollywood is now manged by Vacation Traditions!

My mother, Marsha M. Brown, assisted the buyers, Ben and Debbie Huss, with the purchase of both the home itself and the oceanfront lot on E. Beacon Road in Rodanthe where Serendipity will reside. Due to the vulnerability of Serendipity's iconic location the only option to keep the romance alive as associated with the movie Nights in Rodanthe was to relocate the home. The Huss' will restore Serendipity back to the way it was in the movie complete with the infamous blue shutters and all. We will provide updates regularly on the move and restoration so stay tuned!

In the meantime Serendipity is available on our website for online reservations or you can also call our office, 866-935-8844.

More to come...
